The Bighouse Youth Group was established in 1998 and has been tirelessly working to bring the gospel to the youth of the Quad cities. From organizing conference trips to Missions trips, The Bighouse youth group is always looking for new ways to build teens that can take the gospel to the world.

On Wednesday night we have a Youth service on the third floor. We have a time of Worship & Praise with our own Worship Band, During service we may pray for request and needs of the teens who come. Then we have a time of teaching form the Word, covering a wide range of topics touching today's youth.

Before and after service we play video games, air hockey, or just hang out. We have a library of the latest in cutting edge Christian CDs and videos. Music is pumped through our sound system while video is displayed on TV monitors around the room. When needed, atmosphere is provided by strobes and many different colored and rotary lights.

We have an informal Bible Study on Sunday nights where we study the Word of God and have discussions of how it applies to our every day life. Monday night is opened up to junior and senior high as well as college-age people.

On "party" nights we may fellowship with other Quad City Youth Groups to build more relationships in the Lord. We may go bowling, skating, or to quality Christian Youth Event. Or we might just hang out together to listen to a newly released Christian CD and eat pizza.

Our goal is to provide an alternative to the traditional Youth Group while providing a safe haven where teenagers can grow in unity and love for one another, while reaching out to the teenagers of the QCA and the surrounding area.

Diane and Curt Borders, are the Youth Directors at the Bighouse.

Curt & Diane were married in 1977 and that same year began working with the local Youth For Christ chapter. Since then, they have been actively involved with teenagers and in their own lives. They were also traveling with a Christian Rock band (in the 70's and early 80's), ministering in coffeehouses, leading worship in churches, and playing on the streets or in evangelistic outreaches, always sharing their testimony in words and music.

But their heart has always reached out for the teenagers; "who are where we were, before we came face to face with the saving power of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior". While Curt & Diane have had no "formal training," over the past 25 years they have attended many Youth Leadership seminars, including a week of training in Miami Florida with Teen Mania's Founder and president Ron Luce, 4-Square Youth Leadership training, "Source" seminars, 180 Leadership Conferences, and countless years of praying, weeping and rejoicing with teenagers as they struggle with, and overcome the stones in their life's path.

God has always been faithful to put Men of God over Curt & Diane, which has allowed them to overcome all the rough times. Curt & Diane's vision is to pass this blessing on to others. Diane is a staff member at Word of Life Christian Center and is in her office four to eight days a week, coordinating all Bighouse activities and trips, handling fund raisers and accounts, as well as working on Bible Studies and Wednesday night teaching. Diane also spends many hours each week working with, visiting, talking to and counseling teenagers in her office. Teens often follow them home for impromptu movie and pizza nights at their home in Moline.

Curt leads the Bighouse Band worship team, and he requires that those on the team are serious about their walk with God. Before anyone joins the team, they must complete a 4 week worship training course, designed to help them understand worship, musicianship, and their place on the team. The course is also designed to help each team member be a witness for Christ, both in and out of Bighouse Youth Services. Curt also maintains all of the audio, video, and computer equipment in the Bighouse and heads up and coordinates projects with the teens. With Diane, he teaches on Wednesday nights, and helps provide a stable and Godly environment in the Bighouse.
